Commercially Pure Titanium UNS R50700
Among unalloyed titanium grades, Commercially Pure Titanium UNS R50700 (Grade 4 CP Titanium) offers the maximum strength while retaining outstanding corrosion resistance. This material outperforms conventional Grade 2 by 30–40% with a minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa (80 ksi) and a yield strength of 483 MPa (70 ksi) with regulated oxygen content up to 0.40% and iron up to 0.50%.
produced in accordance with AMS-T-9046B, AMS-T-9047, AMS 4901 (sheet/strip/plate), and AMS 4921 (bar). Our UNS R50700 goods are subjected to 100% NDT inspection, with thickness tolerance controlled within ±0.05mm, in accordance with CP70 requirements. This grade fills the gap between formable Grade 2 and costly Ti-6Al-4V alloys and complies with ASTM B265, B348, and F67 for medical purposes.
Key Features & Benefits
High Ratio of Strength to Weight
reduces transportation costs and energy usage in aerospace applications by providing structural integrity equivalent to duplex stainless steel at 40% less weight.
Better Performance Against Corrosion
resistant to nitric acid, moist chlorine gas, and microbiological corrosion (MIC), conditions that cause stainless steel to fail in a matter of months.
For surgical implants with no aluminum or vanadium leaching, ASTM F67 certification is biocompatible and non-toxic, guaranteeing safe osseointegration in long-term medical devices.
Compatible with MRI
totally non-magnetic, preventing interference in delicate electronics and removing imaging artifacts in diagnostic devices.

Manufacturing Process
Tight dimensional tolerances and uniform grain structure are preserved by our carefully regulated cold rolling process. In order to maximize formability and avoid work hardening, each sheet is subjected to multi-pass reduction with intermediate annealing cycles at 650–750°C.
Vacuum arc remelting (VAR) is used to create bar products, which are then hot forged and precision machined. This guarantees consistent mechanical properties across the cross-section and removes internal porosity.
To avoid air contamination that results in embrittlement, all welding are carried out under argon/helium shielding with root gas purging. Ductility in heat-affected zones is restored by post-weld heat treatment.
Quality Inspection
100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Detects internal flaws >0.5mm, ensuring zero-defect material for pressure vessel applications.
Eddy Current Testing
Identifies surface cracks and subsurface discontinuities in thin-wall tubing and heat exchanger components.
Chemical Verification
Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) confirms composition compliance on every heat lot with EN 10204 3.2 certification.
Applications Of Commercially Pure Titanium UNS R50700
Surgical Implants
Bone screws and dental implants requiring fatigue resistance under cyclic loading without cytotoxic ion release.
Chemical Reactors
Cryogenic vessels and chlorine production anodes operating in wet chlorine environments up to 120°C.
Aerospace Hydraulics
Firewall bulkheads and hydraulic tubing resisting Skydrol fluid corrosion while reducing airframe weight by 40% versus steel.

FAQ
Q: Can UNS R50700 be cold formed like Grade 2?
A: Formability is 30% lower due to higher strength. Intermediate annealing at 650°C restores ductility for complex bending operations.
Q: Is this grade weldable without filler metal?
A: Yes, autogenous TIG welding works well with rigorous argon shielding on both weld face and root to prevent oxygen pickup.
Q: Does it resist hydrochloric acid?
A: Only in oxidizing conditions. For reducing acids, specify palladium-enhanced Grade 7 (UNS R52400) instead.
Q: What surface finishes are available?
A: Pickled (matte gray), polished (#4 brushed or mirror), and sandblasted textures for specific adhesion requirements.
Q: Why choose this over Ti-6Al-4V for medical devices?
A: Zero aluminum/vanadium leaching eliminates long-term biocompatibility concerns while maintaining sufficient strength for load-bearing implants.
