Grade 19 Titanium Alloy Bar

Grade 19 Titanium Alloy Bar (Ti-3Al-8V-6Cr-4Mo-4Zr, UNS R58640) represents LINHUI TITANIUM's advanced solution for extreme service conditions. Manufactured to SAE AMS 4957, SAE AMS 4958, and ASTM B 348 Grade 19 standards, our bars deliver tensile strengths exceeding 175 ksi (1200 MPa) after heat treatment. This metastable beta alloy resists stress corrosion cracking in H2S environments up to 500°F (260°C) and maintains superior cold formability.

With thickness tolerance controlled within ±0.05mm and 100% NDT inspection, you receive consistent mechanical properties across every shipment. Our direct mill supply ensures full traceability via EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certification.

Key Features & Benefits

Superior Corrosion Resistance

Your equipment faces less downtime in sour gas wells and acidic brines. The high chromium and molybdenum content prevents crevice corrosion where standard Ti-6Al-4V fails.

Tunable Mechanical Properties

You can specify solution treated (ST) condition for cold forming operations or solution treated and aged (STA) for maximum hardness. This flexibility reduces your inventory needs.

Weight Reduction

At 0.174 lb/in³ density, you achieve 40-50% weight savings versus steel in springs and fasteners while maintaining comparable strength.

Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of grade 19 Ti 3Al 8V 6Cr 4Zr 4Mo alloy is outlined in the following table.

Element Content (%)
Titanium, Ti 75
Vanadium, V 8
Chromium, Cr 6
Zirconium, Zr 4
Molybdenum, Mo 4
Aluminum, Al 3
Iron, Fe ≤ 0.30
Oxygen, O ≤ 0.14
Carbon, C ≤ 0.050
Nitrogen, N ≤ 0.030

Manufacturing Process

Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR)

We melt raw materials in vacuum chambers to eliminate inclusions. This creates a homogeneous microstructure critical for pressure vessel components.

Hot Forging & Rolling

Billets are forged above the beta transus temperature, then rolled using controlled cooling rates. You receive bars with uniform grain structure and predictable mechanical response.

Heat Treatment

Solution treatment at 760-790°C followed by water quenching produces the ductile beta phase. Aging at 480-540°C for 8 hours develops peak hardness for your application.

Quality Inspection

· Ultrasonic testing per ASTM E 428 detects internal flaws >1mm

· Chemical analysis via optical emission spectroscopy ensures composition tolerance ±0.1%

· Tensile and hardness testing on every heat lot

· Dimensional inspection with CMM accuracy to ±0.02mm

· Third-party witness testing available (SGS, TÜV, DNV)

Applications Of Grade 19 Titanium Alloy Bar

Oil & Gas Downhole Tools

Your logging instruments and packer mandrels operate safely in HPHT wells containing 15% H2S concentration. NACE MR0175 compliance prevents sulfide stress cracking.

Aerospace Springs & Fasteners

Landing gear components benefit from 70% weight reduction versus steel while maintaining fatigue life exceeding 10⁷ cycles.

Geothermal Energy Systems

Pump shafts and valve stems in 250°C geothermal brines resist pitting corrosion for 20+ year service intervals.

FAQ

Q: Can you provide bars under 10mm diameter?

A: Yes, we produce wire-grade bars down to 6mm per AMS 4957 for spring manufacturing.

Q: What's the minimum order quantity?

A: Stock diameters (20-100mm) have 100 kg MOQ. Custom sizes require 500 kg minimum.

Q: Do you offer solution treated and aged condition?

A: Absolutely. Specify STA condition for hardness 36-42 HRC during ordering.

Q: Is this alloy compatible with seawater desalination plants?

A: Yes, Grade 19 outperforms Grade 5 in hot brine environments above 150°C due to higher corrosion resistance.

Q: Can you machine bars to near-net shape?

A: Our CNC facilities handle turning, milling, and thread rolling. Send drawings for quotation.
