Grade 12 Titanium Round Bar

In complete accordance with ASTM B348 standards, LINHUI TITANIUM produces Grade 12 Titanium Round Bar, a specialty near-alpha titanium alloy (UNS R53400). This alloy is developed with selective additions of 0.3% molybdenum and 0.8% nickel to give higher crevice corrosion resistance in hot brine and reducing acid environments, outperforming CP titanium while maintaining cost efficiency below palladium-alloyed grades.

Bars (ASTM B348 Gr12), sheets and plates (ASTM B265 Gr12), heat exchanger tubes (ASTM B338 Gr12), forgings (ASTM B381 Gr12), castings (ASTM B367 Gr12), and fasteners like bolts (ASTM F468 Gr12) and nuts (ASTM F467 Gr12) are just a few of the many forms of titanium that we are capable of production. With a minimum tensile strength of 483 MPa and a yield strength of 345 MPa, Grade 12 provides the mechanical integrity needed for critical industrial applications while maintaining 18% elongation for better formability.

Key Features & Benefits

This material's enhanced corrosion resistance against chloride-containing fluids at high temperatures up to 315°C makes it ideal for challenging chemical processing conditions.

The Mo-Ni synergy creates a protective oxide layer that prevents pitting and crevice attack in hot saltwater desalination systems where standard grades fail.

A greater strength-to-weight ratio, which is about 60% lighter than comparable steel components while maintaining a similar load-bearing capability, is the means by which structural efficiency is attained.

Superior weldability reduces manufacturing time and costs by enabling complex fabrications without the requirement for post-weld heat treatment.

Manufacturing Process

To ensure uniform alloy distribution and remove trace impurities that jeopardize corrosion resistance, we use vacuum arc remelting (VAR) technology.

In order to improve mechanical qualities and refine grain structure, hot forging operations are carefully regulated within the alpha-beta phase zone (880950°C).

In order to provide constant microstructure throughout the bar cross-section and predictable performance in your applications, controlled cooling rates avoid beta-phase retention.

Tight dimensional tolerances (±0.05mm) are provided via multi-pass straightening and centerless grinding, which lower machining waste and boost productivity.

Quality Inspection

According to ASTM E213, internal discontinuities as small as 1.5 mm equivalent flat-bottom hole size can be found with 100% ultrasonic testing (UT).

Critical pressure vessel components are delivered with 0% defects thanks to eddy current inspection, which finds surface-breaking flaws.

Tensile characteristics, hardness (HRC/HB), and impact toughness compliance are confirmed by mechanical testing on representative samples from each heat lot.

Heat number tracking, chemical analysis reports, and mechanical test data are all included in full material traceability through EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certificates.

Applications

Heat exchangers, reactor vessels, and piping systems that handle wet chlorine, hypochlorite solutions, and acidic chloride media are examples of chemical processing.

Pump shafts, brine heaters, and evaporator tubes in desalination plants that operate in saline environments with temperatures as high as 315°C.

Offshore Engineering: Subsea equipment, fasteners, and structural elements that need to be extremely strong and resistant to seawater corrosion.

Electrowinning cathodes, pickling apparatus, and leaching tanks exposed to sulfuric acid and chloride mixtures are examples of hydrometallurgy.

FAQ

Q: What makes Grade 2 different from Grade 12?

A: Grade 12's Mo and Ni additives significantly increase its resistance to crevice corrosion in hot chloride environments where Grade 2 gets attacked.

Q: Can you provide custom diameters?

A: We do manufacture bars with diameters between 6 and 400 mm and custom lengths up to 6000 mm in compliance with your technical drawings.

Q: Are material certificates offered by you?

A: Each shipment includes EN 10204 3.1 certificates, a comprehensive chemical analysis, mechanical test findings, and heat traceability records.

Q: How long does it take to get a 500 kilogram order?

A: It takes three to seven days for stock items to be sent. Custom specifications typically take 15 to 25 days, depending on the diameter and surface quality requirements.

Q: Is it possible to have an examination by a third party?

A: Without a doubt. We welcome requests for SGS, BV, TÜV, DNV, or ABS inspections at our factory before export.
