Gr2 Titanium Plate – High-Performance Industrial Grade Material

The most popular commercially pure (CP) titanium material in the world's industrial markets is Gr2 titanium plate, which is completely compliant with ASME SB-265 and ASTM B265 requirements and is categorized under UNS R50400. This alpha-phase alloy has an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio with a density of only 4.51 g/cm³, which is 45% lighter than steel. Its tensile strength is ≥345 MPa, yield strength is ≥275 MPa, and elongation is ≥20%.

With its regulated cold rolling process, LINHUI TITANIUM's Gr2 titanium plate maintains a thickness tolerance of ±0.05mm for exceptional forming stability. In accordance with AMS 2631 Class A1, our material is subjected to 100% ultrasonic and eddy current testing to guarantee that there are no internal laminations. Complete EN 10204 3.2 traceability certificates, which ensure interstitial element control (Fe ≤0.30%, O ≤0.25%, and H <0.015%), are given with every plate.

Key Features & Benefits

Step 1: Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR)

To remove impurities and provide a uniform composition, raw titanium is doubly melted.

Step 2: Annealing and Hot Rolling

To maximize grain structure, billets are hot-rolled at 900°C to 950°C and then stress-relief annealed.

Step 3: Regulated Cold Rolling

By achieving fine thickness control within ±0.05mm, multi-pass cold reduction improves mechanical characteristics and surface finish.

Step 4: Passivation and Acid Pickling

reveals the bright, corrosion-resistant surface after removing iron pollution and alpha casing. The TiO₂ protective layer is stabilized by final passivation.

Manufacturing Process

Step 1: Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR)

Raw titanium undergoes double melting to eliminate inclusions and ensure homogeneous composition.

Step 2: Hot Rolling & Annealing

Billets are hot-rolled at 900°C–950°C, followed by stress-relief annealing to optimize grain structure.

Step 3: Controlled Cold Rolling

Multi-pass cold reduction achieves precise thickness control within ±0.05mm, enhancing surface finish and mechanical properties.

Step 4: Acid Pickling & Passivation

Removes alpha case and iron contamination, revealing the bright, corrosion-resistant surface. Final passivation stabilizes the TiO₂ protective layer.

Quality Inspection

OES/ICP Chemical Analysis

Spectral analysis is performed on each heat batch to confirm interstitial element limitations, avoiding alpha case brittleness and hydrogen embrittlement.

Mechanical Examination

Cold formability and structural integrity are verified by tensile tests, impact toughness assessments, and guided bend tests (105° angle per ASTM E290).

Internal laminations are found using 100% Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in accordance with AMS 2631 Class A1. Surface fissures that are imperceptible to the human eye can be found via eddy current testing.

Heat number, chemical composition, mechanical qualities, and third-party inspection reports (available from SGS, TÜV, and DNV) are all included in Traceability Documentation EN 10204 3.2 certificates.

FAQ

Q: How do Gr2 and Gr5 titanium plates differ from one another?

A: Gr2 is commercially pure titanium with superior corrosion resistance and cold formability, ideal for chemical processing. Aerospace uses Gr5 (Ti-6Al-4V), a high-strength alloy with almost twice the tensile strength but poorer weldability.

Q: Are you able to offer third-party inspection?

A: Yes, we can set up inspections for SGS, BV, TÜV, DNV, or ABS at your request prior to shipment.

Q: What options are there for surface finishes?

A: For improved bonding, a matte surface can be sandblasted, mirror polished (Ra ≤0.4μm), or standard pickled.

Q: Are custom dimensions accepted?

A: Absolutely. Based on your drawings, we provide CNC machining, drilling, and custom cutting.

Q: How much is the minimum order quantity?

A: 100 kilogram of stock products. 500 kilogram per specification for custom manufacture.---
