Manufacturing Process
To remove contaminants, raw titanium sponge is subjected to triple vacuum arc remelting (VAR). After being hot forged at 900–1100°C, ingots are precisely turned or ground to their final size.
Tight tolerances are achieved by cold rolling. Stress is reduced while microstructure integrity is preserved by annealing at 650–750°C. According to ASTM guidelines, heat treatment is applied to every commercially pure titanium rod.
Final straightening guarantees a variation of less than 1 mm/m. To restore passive oxide layers after machining, surface treatment alternatives include acid pickling (HNO₃-HF solution) in accordance with ASTM B600.
