ASTM B348 Titanium Alloy Rod

Premium ASTM B348 Titanium Alloy Rod with Grade 2, Grade 5 (Ti6Al4V), and Grade 23 (Ti6Al4V ELI) configurations is produced by XI AN LINHUI IMPORT AND EXPORT Co., LTD. Our Grade 2 rods have outstanding corrosion resistance and a tensile strength of 345 MPa. Grade 5 versions are perfect for aerospace-critical applications since they attain 828 MPa yield strength and 895 MPa tensile strength. The ultra-low interstitial concentration (O< 0.13%) of Grade 23 ELI rods satisfies biomedical implant criteria. Every product is subjected to 100% ultrasonic testing in accordance with AMS 2631 Class AA standards. We guarantee 37 days for stock item delivery thanks to our ISO 9001:2015 certification and more than 200 tons of stock inventory. For precision machining, our controlled cold rolling keeps the tolerance at ±0.05mm.

Key Features & Benefits

Better Ratio of Strength to Weight

When compared to steel, our ASTM B348 Titanium Alloy Rod reduces weight by 60% without sacrificing strength. This applies to payload optimization in marine applications and fuel economy in aircraft.

Outstanding Resistance to Corrosion

In marine conditions, grade 2 rods are resistant to pitting caused by chloride. Variants of grade 7 do not deteriorate when exposed to reducing acids such as HCl and H2SO4.

FDA regulations for surgical implants are met by Biocompatibility Certified Grade 23 ELI materials. Safe osseointegration in orthopedic devices is guaranteed by zero cytotoxicity.

Manufacturing Process

Rolling and Hot Forging

The grain structure of ingots is refined through multi-pass forging at 9501050°C. This results in an equiaxed alpha-beta microstructure and removes segregation.

Treatment with Annealing

Dimensional stability is ensured by stress relief annealing at 700850°C for two to four hours. You get rods that are uniformly hard across their cross-sections.

Accurate Machining

Ra 1.6μm surface polish is obtained by centerless grinding or peeling. According to ASTM guidelines, the diameter tolerance is ±0.13 mm.

Non-Destructive Examinations

100% ultrasonic inspection finds interior defects larger than 0.8 mm. Surface cracks deeper than 0.1 mm are detected by eddy current testing.

Quality Inspection

Mechanical Testing

Tensile tests per ASTM E8 confirm yield/tensile strength on every production lot. Hardness verification uses Rockwell C scale for alloyed grades.

Microstructure Analysis

Metallographic examination validates grain size per ASTM E112. Alpha phase distribution must meet aerospace specifications.

Traceability Documentation

EN 10204 3.1 certificates include heat number, melt source, and test results. Third-party inspection by SGS, TÜV, or DNV available upon request.

Applications

Aerospace Parts

Our Grade 5 ASTM B348 Titanium Alloy Rod is required for landing gear pins, turbine blades, and structural fasteners. Thermal stability at 400°C is attained with no creep deformation.

Implants in Medicine

Grade 23 material is used for hip replacements, spinal rods, and dental screws. Patient safety is guaranteed by biocompatibility testing in accordance with ISO 10993.

Processing Chemicals

Heat exchanger tubes and agitator shafts are resistant to exposure to chlorine and nitric acid. Palladium-stabilized rods of grade 7 stop corrosion in cracks.

Engineering for the Sea

Valve stems and propeller shafts are resistant to damage by saltwater chloride. When subsea conditions surpass 3000 pressure, our rods remain intact.

FAQ

Q: What distinguishes Grade 23 from Grade 5?

A: Grade 23 offers better ductility for cold-forming medical equipment due to its reduced interstitial oxygen content (0.13% vs. 0.20%). Their tensile strengths are comparable.

Q: Are you able to supply rods with a diameter of less than 10 mm?

A: Yes, we produce diameters ranging from 6 to 300 mm. For precise tolerances, centerless grinding is used for smaller diameters.

Q: Do you provide sour gas services that comply with NACE MR0175?

A: NACE criteria are met by Grade 2 and Grade 7 materials. Reports on sulfide stress cracking tests are available upon request.

Q: Which surface finishes are offered?

A: Sandblasted, polished (Ra 0.8μm), and pickled (Ra 3.2μm). Ra 0.4μm is attained using medical-grade mirror polish.

Q: How is dimensional correctness ensured?

A: Every 500 mm, laser micrometers measure the diameter. For every 6000mm rod, the length tolerance is maintained at ±5mm.
