ASTM B862 Titanium Alloy Welded Pipe
High-performance ASTM B862 Titanium Alloy Welded Pipe that complies with ASME SB862 and ASTM B862 requirements is INHUI Titanium's area of expertise. Our goods span in dimension from OD 15mm to 610mm and wall thickness from 0.5mm to 12.7mm, and they cover Grades 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 12, and 5 (Ti-6Al-4V).
Each pipe is delivered in annealed state, either as-welded or thermally stress-relieved, and comes in lengths up to 12,000mm. Because no filler metal is used in our longitudinal welded pipes, the weld zone retains its resistance to base metal corrosion. We promise zero-defect delivery with 100% NDT inspection and EN 10204 3.1/3.2 traceability. Custom manufacture takes 15–25 days to finish, while stock orders ship in 3–7 days.
Key Features & Benefits
Superior Weld Integrity
By doing away with filler metals, our welding method guarantees that the base material and the weld are chemically compatible. By eliminating residual stress, post-weld annealing achieves corrosion resistance on par with seamless pipes.
Dimensional Accuracy
Within ±0.05mm, tolerance is regulated. Compared to seamless extrusion restrictions, larger diameters (up to 610mm) are accessible. ANSI/ASME B36.19M flange systems are compatible.
Extended Service Life: In HCl and H2SO4 conditions, Grade 7 with palladium stabilization resists crevice corrosion. Perfect for seawater and chloride-rich media applications that need to run without maintenance for more than 40 years.
Manufacturing Process
Step 1: Choosing Materials
We procure titanium coils that adhere to ASTM B265 specifications. To confirm interstitial element limits, spectrochemical analysis is performed on each heat batch.
Step 2: Forming Rolls
Precision roll stands are used to continually shape coils into tubular profiles. Before welding, edge preparation guarantees a tight fit.
Step 3: Welding longitudinally
Full-penetration welds without filler metal are produced using TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding in an inert argon atmosphere. To stop oxidation, real-time monitoring regulates heat input.
Heat Treatment in Step Four
In vacuum furnaces, pipes are annealed at 650–750°C. This homogenizes the microstructure and reduces welding stresses.
Step 5: Finishing and Sizing
Final diameter and wall thickness tolerances are attained by cold pilger mills. Depending on your needs, surface finishes can be pickled, polished, or sandblasted.
Quality Inspection
NDT, or non-destructive testing
To find subsurface flaws, porosity, or a lack of fusion in welds, every ASTM B862 Titanium Alloy Welded Pipe is subjected to 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Eddy Current Testing (ECT).
Testing for Hydrostatic Pressure
Every pipe is tested at pressures higher than the schedule ratings-specified operational limits. In critical systems, zero leakage tolerance guarantees dependability.
Testing for Mechanical Welding
Weld ductility is verified using flattening and guided bend tests. Cracks are not allowed in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) or the weld zone.
Verification of Chemicals
Interstitial limitations are verified by third-party labs (SGS, BV, and TÜV). Each shipment comes with complete EN 10204 3.1/3.2 material certificates.
Applications Of ASTM B862 Titanium Alloy Welded Pipe
Processing Chemicals
used in chlor-alkali facilities for the transportation of acidic slurry and the handling of wet chlorine gas. resists corrosion in cracks where stainless steel breaks down.
Power Generation and Desalination
Perfect for seawater cooling lines and Multi-Stage Flash (MSF) systems. resistant to erosion at high speeds and microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC).
Offshore Gas and Oil
used in ballast water pipelines on floating platforms and fire suppression systems. When compared to copper-nickel alloys, weight reductions lower structural load.
Aerospace and Defense High-strength Grade 9 and Grade 5 pipes are used in hydraulic systems that need to have extraordinary strength-to-weight ratios at temperatures as high as 315°C.

FAQ
Q: Can you provide small trial orders?
A:Yes, our minimum order quantity starts at 100 kg for stock items. Custom orders depend on size and grade specifications.
Q: What is the lead time for custom sizes?
A:Standard production takes 15–25 days. Custom fabrication requiring special tooling may extend to 25–40 days. Rush orders can be expedited upon request.
Q: Do you offer third-party inspection?
A:Absolutely. We welcome inspections by SGS, BV, TÜV, DNV, or ABS at any production stage. Certificates are provided with shipments.
Q: How do you ensure weld quality?
A:Every pipe undergoes 100% UT and ECT scanning. Hydrostatic tests verify leak tightness. Guided bend and flattening tests validate mechanical integrity per ASTM B862 requirements.
Q: Which grades resist acidic environments best?
A: Grade 7 with palladium stabilization offers superior resistance to reducing acids like HCl and H₂SO₄, preventing crevice corrosion in aggressive chemical processes.
