As titanium is increasingly used in various industries, people are paying more and more attention to it. What are the precautions for titanium welding? The following are the precautions for welding operations:
What are the precautions for titanium welding?
(1) During Titanium Welding, the angle between the welding wire and the weldment should be kept as small as possible, and no lateral movement should be made. When swinging is required, the frequency should be low, the amplitude should not be too fast, and the wire feeding should be stable. During welding, the filler wire should always be kept under the protection of argon gas. After the arc is extinguished, the welding wire should not be exposed to the atmosphere immediately and should be removed when the weld is out of protection. If the welding wire is contaminated or oxidized and discolored, the contaminated part should be cut off.
(2) Do not strike or test the arc on the surface of the weldment; ensure the quality of arc starting and arc ending during welding; fill the arc pit when ending the arc, and the joints between layers of multi-layer welding should be staggered.
(3) Unless otherwise specified, each weld should be welded continuously at one time. If it is interrupted for some reason, it must be inspected when welding again. Titanium Welding can only be continued after confirming that there are no cracks.
(4) If tungsten is accidentally caught during welding, the welding operation should be stopped, the tungsten point should be removed with a grinder, and the end of the tungsten grade should be re-grinded. The welding operation can be resumed after meeting the requirements. The requirements are the same as the initial welding operation.
(5) To reduce welding deformation, positioning welding should be performed between the joint grooves before welding. The positioning welding should be the same as the formal welding process. The length of the positioning weld should be 10-15mm, the height should be 2-4mm, and should not exceed 2/3 of the wall thickness. The weld of the positioning weld should not have cracks and other defects. The ends of the positioning weld should be ground into a gentle slope.
(6) If any of the following conditions occur in the Titanium Welding environment, welding should be stopped without taking protective measures: wind speed ≥ 2m/s; relative humidity greater than 90%; rain or snow; temperature below 0℃.
(7) The weld repair process is the same as the original welding process. The number of repairs on the same part shall not exceed two times. If a second repair is required, repair measures should be formulated. The repair should be carried out after approval by the welding responsible engineer and should be noted in the construction record.
The above are the precautions for Titanium Welding. I hope you like it. See you next time.
